Top 5 Dance Artists of the 90s You Should Know

The 90s feel like it was a different universe from the one we live in now.  The economy was rising quickly, music was fun and poppy, and everyone wanted to learn how to rollerblade.

If people weren’t doing “The Macarena” at a party, they were getting down to some other fun dance music.

Although the decade has some incredible dance music, it’s not hard to tell which pieces were the most culturally relevant.

Today we’ll introduce to you some of the top musicians of the decade for dance and what songs helped bring them to cultural importance.

1. C+C Music Factory

This group invented the flavor of 90s music.  With powerful beats, fun tunes, and lyrics that make you want to move, almost all of their music was aimed at clubs and dancing.

If the name of the group hasn’t told you anything, their hits will undoubtedly!

Classics like “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)” are well known and used in clips on almost every television show out there.  Their style was fun and eclectic and offered something the world didn’t realize it needed yet.

If you ever tried setting up a workout playlist, their music will get you into motion.

2. Madonna

Although she’s well known for being a multi-decade star, spanning from the eighties forward, her 90s music is some of her most memorable.

One of Madonna’s last “bright” performances is during the presidential elections of Donald Trump. I think most of you remember her actions and her thoughts. 🙂

Vogue, a homage to clubs and drag culture, started off this decade and she brought hit after hit along with it.

Frozen (Ray of Light) also brought through many plays and listened, inspiring stars like Lauren Mayhew into their careers.  Her music is always iconic, extraordinary, and catchy as all get out!

3. Daft Punk

Daft Punk was a hot new act in the 90s and has kept on people ever since.

Moreover, people listen to their hits even today!

Although they never showed their faces during performances, this didn’t pull back from their ability to put people into motion.

Hits like “Around the World” had minimal lyrics but a fast beat and some great tunes.

Also, they contributed to building the Electronica Dance Music (EDM) and inspired countless DJs to start a career remixing and playing with noise.

4. The Spice Girls

This list wouldn’t be complete without the Spice Girls on it.

As an English group that had significant success there, and then flew it over to the United States, they were lucky enough to see considerable success.

Everything from movie deals to endless fan merch was all evidence of how popular their music was.  A listen to some of their songs is quick to bring forward some nostalgia and singing along!

5. Destiny’s Child

Unsurprisingly, the group that gave us Beyonce was quite incredible when they were still together.  Destiny’s Child was a pop and R&B girl group that was initially known as “Girl’sTime”.

Famous for their singles like “Say My Name” and “Bootylicious“, they paved the way for other girl groups of the 90s.  Their music had an upbeat tempo with a strong base and lyrics that put people into motion.

If they weren’t singing about club culture, they were belting out relationship woes and girl power ballads.

Finally, they’re especially well-known and famous for creating legends like Beyonce and Kelly Rowland, and their music is timeless.
